Ms. Jacquelyn Maxine Brown (Jackie), age 73, of Chase City, VA, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 27, 2021 at A Daughter's Care Assisted Living in DeSoto, TX. Ms. Brown was born on September 3, 1948, in South Hill, VA, the oldest daughter of the late Albert "Mack" Carter and Irma J. Jones Carter. She was a graduate of West End High School, Class of 1966. She furthered her education at Southside Virginia Community College in Keysville, VA, and earned her master's degree. She worked at Burlington Industries in Clarksville, VA and later worked for Mecklenburg Correctional Facility where she started as a guard in Boydton, VA and after receiving her master's degree she became a Counselor for Mecklenburg Correctional Unit. She worked at two other state correctional units including Halifax County where she ended her 30 plus years career as a state correctional service employee, and retired in 2014. She received several different designations, awards, and other recognitions during that time. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Clarksville, VA where she served on the Trustee Board and sang in the choir. Ms. Brown was married to the late Harold Edward Brown. In her spare time, she enjoyed working hard, listening to gospel, old R&B and blues music, horses and motorcycles. She is survived by two sons, Roymeico Carter and Family of Wake Forest, NC and Gary Brown (Alexis) of Grand Prairie, TX; daughter, Tori Nelson of Ashburn, VA; 8 plus grandchildren, Julia Brown of North Chesterfield, VA, Allegra Watkins of Atlanta, GA, Demetrice Brown of North Chesterfield, VA, Morgan Terry of Chase City, VA, Simone Bales of Richmond, VA, Que Markie Kersey of Ashburn, VA and Brannin Terry of Baumholder, Germany; 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Al Carter (Sandra) of Clarksville, VA, Christine Downey of Danville, VA, Jerome Carter of Skipwith, VA, Michael Carter of Richmond, VA, and Angie Carter Alford (Derrick) of Chesterfield, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside services for Ms. Jacquelyn Maxine Brown will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 1, 2022 at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarksville, VA with Mack Talley officiating. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Mask are required to be worn for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home, Clarksville, VA.
