Miss Isaac Belle Atkins, 98, of Red Oak, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Miss Atkins was born in Charlotte County, VA on March 1, 1920 to the late Herbert and Grace Watkins Atkins. At an early age she joined Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA, and later attended Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church, Chase City, VA. She attended Salem School, and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the former St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA. Miss Atkins was a retired English teacher for Russell Grove High School in Amelia, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Cherishing her memories are her sister, Venoy Barbour of West Babylon, NY; nephew, Rufus Atkins (Lisa) of Petersburg, VA; one sister-in-law, Albena Atkins of Chase City, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Reginald Davis delivering the eulogy. Interment will be private. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City.
