Irma G. Wood

Mrs. Irma Geraldine Hayes Wood, 74, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at her residence.   Mrs. Wood was born in Lunenburg County, VA April 15, 1934 to the late Clyde and Ruth Nelson Hayes. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church, where she had served in the capacities of church clerk, Sunday school teacher, Missionary Circle and as a choir member.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett A. Wood and her daughter, Linda Wood-Davis.  Cherishing her memories are six children, Yvonne W. Bowers, and Larry Wood (Barbara) of Chase City, VA, Claude Wood (Anita) of Woodbridge, VA, Carlton Wood (Beverly) of Chesterfield, VA, Sandra G. Wood of Alexandria, VA and Gary Wood of Richmond, VA; 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence R. Hayes of Dallas, TX and Clayton T. Hayes of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.  Funeral services for Mrs. Irma Geraldine Wood will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at Berean Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Prophet Harry L. Williams, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 8 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home.   Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St. Chase City, VA.
