Mrs. Irma Dailey Evans, 95, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Beaufont Health & Rehabilitation Center, Richmond, VA. Mrs. Evans was born in Charlotte County, VA on May 14, 1922 to the late Charlie and Nannie Dailey. She attended the historical Thyne Institute, later relocating to Brooklyn, NY where she worked in retail and as an administrative assistant in the school system. Her favorite pastime was cooking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow H. Salley; second husband, Willie B. Evans; son, William Irving Salley; daughter, LaVerne Salley Esquilin and five brothers, Ernest, Charlie Irvin, Roosevelt, Fred and Curtis Melvin. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Tanya Hughes (John) of Midlothian, VA; five grandchildren, Michelle Grybowski (Paul), Nicole Pennington (Russell), Randi Hughes, Kristen Hughes and Max Grybowski; six sisters, Rachael Hargroves (Pete), Kathleen Carter (Richard), Juanita Atkinson (Gordon), Shirley Hardy (Curtis), Josephine Reid (Thomas), and Carolyn Skinner (Joe) and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Irma Dailey Evans will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Monday, May 22, 2017 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA. Interment will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer, officiating. Public viewing will begin Monday from 10:00 AM until service time. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
