Mr. Howard Ellis, Jr., affectionately known as “Junior,” was born on March 12, 1938 to the late Howard and Ida Mae Ellis, in Chase City, Virginia. He was called home into eternal rest on Monday, January 25, 2010 in West Columbia, South Carolina. Howard relocated to Newark, New Jersey in his early years. Not long after his move, he met the love of his life, Hester Pearl Kelly, who preceded him to eternal rest in a tragic death in 1963. Masons, Inc. in Linden, New Jersey. He was an honorable man to those whom he encountered. Howard was always clean cut from head to toe with a brimmed hat and shined shoes to match every custom made suit. He was one of a kind. Mr. Howard Ellis, Jr. leaves to cherish his precious memory: a dear friend, Mae Bell Mackie of North, South Carolina; a daughter, Patricia Ann Ellis of Columbia, South Carolina; two stepdaughters, Barbara Erskine Allen of Hockessin, Delaware and Linda Faye Kelly of Columbia, South Carolina; one sister, Cora Ellis of Newark, New Jersey; two brothers, David and Curtis Ellis; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; niece; nephews; many other loving relatives and caring friends.
