Howard A. Long

Mr. Howard A. Long, 81, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, January 27, 2025 at his residence.

Mr. Long was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on August 29, 1943 to the late Howard, Sr. and Christine Gee Long. He received his early education in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools, and was a graduate of West End High School. Mr. Long was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a former ramp agent for United Airlines. Mr. Long was a United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed cooking and watching sports.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Long was preceded in death by three sisters, Gwendolyn Long, Dorothy Millie Long Davis and Rosa M. Carruthers; and one brother, Roger Long, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Theresa Long of Boydton, VA; one daughter, Antoinette Murray of Maryland; a dear friend whom he treated as a son, Robert Toone; grandson, Kevin Bradley; sister, Mattie Jean Boney of Sebring, FL; seven nephews, Harry Boney (Debbie) of Columbus, OH, Earl Boney (Sabarah) of Jacksonville, FL, Alexander Boney of Brightwaters, NY, Christian Boney (Monica) of Bay Shore, NY, Sean Long of Baldwin, NY, Irving R. Carruthers (Alisa) of St. Louis, MO, Jason Long of Park Forest; two nieces, Gwen Maria Branch of Woodbridge, VA and Vania Long of Park Forest, IL, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funerals services for Mr. Howard A. Long will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Friday, February 7, 2025 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Elder Kenyatta Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing will begin on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M.
