Hilrey Brooks

Mr. Hilrey Brooks, 70, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Chase City Nursing and Rehab.

Mr. Brooks was born in Mecklenburg County, VA October 2, 1952 to the late William A. and Lila Bell Gregory Brooks. He attended West End High School, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. In his later years, he moved his membership to Silone Baptist Church. Mr. Brooks was formerly employed by Lewis Tree Service for many years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Mae Boyd, and three brothers, William, Jr., James and Thomas Brooks.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory three daughters, Evette Brooks of Chase City, VA, Lakeshia B. Pendergraft (Kenneth) of Jacksonville, NC and Hillarey Brooks of White Plains, NY; one son, Darrell Thompson of Richmond, VA; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ephriam Brooks (Shelia) of South Boston, VA; five sisters, Rena Brooks , Yvonne Tucker (Harold) and Frances Carden (Lester) all of Chase City, VA, Gloria Lane (Randolph) of Gloucester , VA and Jennifer Crowder (Michael) of Richmond, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Hilrey Brooks will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris, officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00P. M.
