Mrs. Hilda Winn Hamlett, 77, of Brooklyn, NY and formerly of Fort Mitchell, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Mrs. Hamlett was born in Fort Mitchell, VA February 14, 1937 to the late Bernard and Pauline Bacon Winn. She attended the schools of Lunenburg County, VA. Hilda migrated to New York where she continued her studies at the College of New Rochelle, earning a Bachelor’s Degree and also at Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, NY where she earned her Master’s Degree. She was employed at Dunn and Bradstreet Financial Institution and later worked for their subsidiary firm, Moody Investors. Mrs. Hamlett joined Mount Mitchell Baptist Church at an early age while in New York she united with The New Frontier Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Willing Worker’s Auxiliary, Chairlady for Women Day, and served currently as the Sunday School Secretary. She was also a member of the Evangelical Ministers’, Wives and Ministers’ Widows Auxiliary of the Brooklyn Baptist Evangelical Union. In addition to her parents Mrs. Hamlett was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Cherishing her memories are her husband Rev. Job Edgar Hamlett; one sister, Sandra Gobourne of Chesterfield, VA; one brother, Caroyl Winn (Gladys) of Richmond, VA; one aunt Inez Bacon of Brooklyn, NY; three nieces, Angela Diggs of San Diego, CA, Scheralyn Gobourne of Norfolk, VA and Schereda Killingworth (James) of Virginia and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Winn Hamlett will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. Fran S. Jackson, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Service 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 17, 2014 Mt.
