Hilda Brummell Lewis

Mrs. Hilda Brummell Lewis, 82, of Buffalo Junction, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Sentara MeadowView Terrace, Clarksville, VA. Mrs. Lewis was born in Mecklenburg County, VA February 27, 1936 to the late Augustus and Elnora R. Brummell. She was a graduate of West End High School, Clarksville, VA, and furthered her education at Hampton University and Community College of Baltimore, MD, earning her Registered Nursing Degree. She was a member of Antioch United Church of Christ, Townsville, NC and a retired RN at Johns Hopkins Hospital. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea LaTonya Jackson, and one brother, Thomas W. Brummell. Cherishing her memories are her husband, John E. Lewis of Buffalo Junction, VA; one daughter, Eleanor D. Johnson of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two brothers, Augustus L. Brummell, Jr. and James H. Brummell both of Clarksville, VA; one sister, Eleanor B. Terry of Ponte Verda, FL, six sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Brummell Lewis will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Antioch United Church of Christ, Townsville, NC with Rev. Andy Hargrove officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
