Hessie Mae Cheatham

Mrs. Hessie Mae Cheatham, 101, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, February 1, 2008 at W.S. Hundley Annex, South Hill, VA. Mrs. Cheatham was born in Dodge County, GA, July 1, 1906 to the late Robert and Margaret Jackson Ford. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA and a homemaker. Mrs. Cheatham was preceded in death by her husband, James Cheatham, three children and 10 sisters and brothers. Cherishing her memories are six children, Eddie Cheatham (Geraldine) of Baltimore, MD, Frieda Washington (Bobby) of New Rochelle, NY, Robert Cheatham, Clara Jones (William) and Jocile Bailey all of Chase City, VA and Felix Cheatham of Birmingham, AL; fourteen grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Goudie Davis of Trenton, NJ and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Hessie Mae Cheatham will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. E. Douglas Reams, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church, Thursday, from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
