Mr. Herbert Lyons, Jr., age 68, of Skipwith, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, April 24, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Lyons, affectionately known as “Bo Pete”, was born in Skipwith, VA on December 10, 1948 to Jeanette and the late Herbert Lyons, Sr. He attended Holly Rock School, and was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA. Mr. Lyons was formerly employed as a machinist for Butler Woodcrafters, Inc., retiring after 39 years of service. In addition to his father, Mr. Lyons was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Maqutia L. Carrington; two sisters, Helen A. Gregory and Sarah L. Clark and one brother, Frank L. Lyons. Cherishing his loving memories are his wife, Dorothy Mae Lyons of Skipwith, VA; two daughters, Teresa L. Washington (Maurice) of South Boston, VA and Christy L. Daniels (Brian) of Chase City, VA; three grandchildren, Shyesha Q. Washington, Kendall Day and Shawn Daniels; his mother, Jeanette Lyons of Chase City, VA; one sister, Jannie M. Puryear (Donnell) of Chase City, VA; three brothers, Ralph Lyons (Belinda) and Wallace Lyons both of Chase City VA and Willie Lyons (Deborah) of Clarksville, VA, numerous nieces and nephews and a vast number of other loving cousins and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Lyons, Jr. will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
