Herbert Lee Holloway, Sr.

Mr. Herbert Lee Holloway, Sr., 88, of Drakes Branch, VA entered eternal rest on Friday September 8, 2023 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA.

Mr. Holloway the oldest child of the late Asa Lee and Estelle Marable Holloway was born September 1, 1935 in Lunenburg County, VA. He attended Lunenburg County public schools and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. There he served as the chairman of the board of Deacons. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator while residing in Baltimore, MD. He retired from Burlington Menswear, in Clarksville, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Asa Holloway.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Joan Holloway of Drakes Branch, VA; two sons, Herbert Holloway, Jr. of Baltimore, MD and Keith Holloway (Beverly) of Conyers, GA; three daughters, Carolyn Langley (David) of Wallace, NC, Doris Cotman (Calvin) of Burgaw, NC and Lauren Bagley of Yonkers, NY; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Holloway of Suwanee, GA and Estelle Daly (Eddie) of Chase City, VA; sister-in-law, Mary Holloway of Snellville, GA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church, Victoria, VA with Rev. William Moore III delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be Saturday from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the church.
