Herbert Arthur Marable

Mr. Herbert Arthur Marable 90, of Chase City, VA entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Southside Community Hospital, Farmville, VA. Mr. Marable was born in Chase City, VA May 1, 1918 to the late Herbert and Manie Knott Marable. He was a member of Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA and was a retired toll comptroller for the state of Connecticut. He was a sergeant non-commission officer in world war II, United States army 92nd infantry, Buffalo Division stationed in Fort Hauchatta Arizona. He attended AT&T College in North Carolina and majored in psychology.  He also attended Lunenburg Public Schools and graduated high school in New York. Mr. Marable was preceded in death by his wife, Allegra Sue Marable. Cherishing her memories are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Herbert A. Marable will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. Fran S. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St., Chase City, VA.
