Hazel Victoria Day Boxley

Ms. Hazel Victoria Day Boxley, 83, of Nelson entered eternal rest August 11, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston. Ms. Boxley was born in Mecklenburg County June 25, 1931 to the late Piercie Cromwell and Tassie Maude-Ethel Williamson Day.  She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County and at an early age joined Wharton Memorial Baptist Church, where she actively served as an Assistant Sunday School Teacher, Missionary, sang in the choir and was the Church Mother for 26 years. She was also a member of the Busy Bee’s and the Averett Garden Club. In June of 1995, she retired from Burlington Industries after 28.5 years of service.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Peter, Anna and Albert and six siblings. Cherishing her memories are one daughter, Yvonne D. Boxley of Nelson; one grandson, Jason Puryear of Nelson; one great-grandson; Jashon Puryear,  three sisters, Clara Trawick and Dorothy J. Day both of Nelson and Sarah L. Burton of Chase City; one brother, Clifton O. Day of Nelson; six sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; one uncle and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Ms. Hazel Victoria Day Boxley will be conducted 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Wharton Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. James A. Hudson, Jr., officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Arrangements are by C. H.
