Mrs. Hattie Jeffress McCargo, 87, of Red Oak, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at her residence. Mrs. McCargo was born in Red Oak, VA on March 31, 1934 to the late William and Olia Toombs Jeffress. She attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA, and was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Red Oak. She served in many church positions, including Choir, Deaconess, Missionary, and Pastor's Aid. She also helped on the Salem School Preservation Committee and Organizing Wylliesburg Rescue Squad. Mrs. McCargo was formerly employed as a caregiver; she worked for many local families aiding children as well as the elderly. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCargo was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Louis McCargo, and a granddaughter, Leslie Jackson. She leaves to cherish her loving memory two daughters, Viola Jackson of Chesterfield, VA and Pearl Roberts of Red Oak, VA; one grandson, Brian Roberts of Chesterfield, VA; one sister, Elvira Boyd of Red Oak, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Jeffress McCargo will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA with Rev. Roger L. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Monday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by C. H.
