Harry Thompson Sr.

Mr. Harry Thompson Sr., 92, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, November 14, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Thompson was born in Wightman, VA November 4, 1922 to the late Mary Etta and Johnnie Thompson. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. He was a retired farmer and a former employee of Tate Lumber Co., Red Oak, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by a daughter, Lottie Marie Hayes, a son, Floyd Lee Thompson; two grandchildren, Calissa Thompson and Cassandra Hayes; sisters, Ethel Parrish and Helen King; brothers, John Thompson and Charlie Thompson. Cherishing his memories are his wife Carrie Lee Thompson of Chase City, VA; four sons, Harry Thompson Jr. (Mary Ann) Clarence E. Thompson (Helen), Emmanuel L. Thompson (Jean) James Jones (Brenda) all of Chase City, VA; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one sister, Endia Salley of Chase City, VA; son-in-law, Thomas Hayes, sister-in-law, Annie B. Hargrove; two brothers-in-law, Gable Goode and Harry Lee Goode and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Harry Thompson Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Waverly Brown, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be Monday 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Services 11:00 A.M.
