Mr. Harry Franklin Wood 62, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, March 14, 2009 at his residence.Mr. Wood was born in Mecklenburg County, VA Dec. 22, 1946 to the late Theotris “Dixie” Wood and Hattie Freeman Wood. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Wood was formerly employed with Industrial Poly as a mechanic.Cherishing his memories are his wife, Sadie Mae Wood of Chase City, VA; five children, Ronnie Jeffreys (Shalonda) of Bridgeport, CT, Dennis Alexander of Boydton, VA, Akim Simmons (Constance) of Clarksville, VA and Jamal Simmons (Arie) of Tulsa, OK,  Jay-Waan Moore of Chase City, VA and Shawanna Price (Curtis) of Easton, PA; nine grandchildren, his mother Hattie Freeman Wood of Chase City, VA; one brother, Larry Wood (Beatrice) of Newport News, VA; five sisters, Rosa Mosley (Calvin) of Red Oak, VA, Lardeva Cameron of Richmond, VA, Diana Wood of Chase City, VA, Deborah Robertson and Janice Christian (Matthew) both of Richmond, VA; five brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.Funeral services for Mr. Harry Franklin Wood will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 20, 2009 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Kevin Pearson, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
