Harry Burton

Deacon Harry Burton, 73, of Drakes Branch, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Meadowview Terrace, Clarksville, VA. Deacon Burton was born in Mecklenburg County, VA February 11, 1938 to the late Robert and Nancy Keene Burton. He attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA. Deacon Burton was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Keysville, VA. where along with serving as a deacon he was a member of the male chorus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Eunice D. Burton of Drakes Branch, VA; five children, Corwin Burton (Sherdine) of Clarksville, VA, Curtis Burton, Chad Burton (Linda) and Carlton Burton all of Drakes Branch, VA and Rodney Burton (Tarantula) of Antioch, TN; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Willetta Hamilton (Walter) and Maggie Tate all of Sun City, AZ and Roberta Mitchell of Washington, DC; four brothers, Floyd Burton of Saxe, VA, David Burton (Charlotte) and Daniel Burton  all of Drakes Branch, VA and Albert Burton (Elizabeth) of Chase City, VA; two sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Deacon Harry Burton will be conducted 12:00 Noon Friday, October 28, 2011 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Wyatt Vaughan, officiating. Burial will follow in the Burton Family Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
