Gwendolyn Delores Long

Miss Gwendolyn Delores Long, 64, of Richmond, VA entered eternal rest August 7, 2014 at her residence. Miss Long was born Chase City, VA June 24, 1950 to the late Howard and Christine Ghee-Long. She received her early education in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools and furthered her education at Stuart Circle School of Nursing, Richmond, VA and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where she became a Registered Nurse.  She was formerly employed by Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, Central State Hospital, Petersburg, VA and was a retired traveling nurse. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA as well as various organizations, including the 4H Club, Virginia Nurses Association and a member of the West End Alumni Association. Cherishing her memories are her mother, Christine G. Long of Chase City, VA; three sisters, Dorothy Davis(Bernard) of Chase City, VA, Mattie J. Boney(Harry) of Sebring, FL and Rosa M. Carruthers of Richmond, VA; two brothers, Howard Long(Theresa) of Boydton, VA and Roger Long (Rose) of Park Forest, IL; eight nephews, Harry Boney(Debbie) of Columbus, OH, Earl Boney(Sabarah) of Jacksonville, FL, Alexander Boney of Brightwaters, NY, Christian Boney(Monica) of Bay Shore, NY, Sean Long of Baldwin, NY, Irving R. Carruthers(Alisa) of St. Louis, MO, Jason Long of Park Forest, IL and Will Long(Malakha) of Park Forest, IL; two nieces, Gwen Maria Branch of Woodbridge, VA and Vania Long of Park Forest, IL and a vast number of loving relatives and caring friends. A Memorial Service for Miss Gwendolyn Delores Long will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Friday, August 15, 2014 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode, officiating.
