Grover C. Hatcher

Mr. Grover C. Hatcher, 88, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Monday, September 5, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Hatcher was born in Mecklenburg County, VA November 17, 1927 to the late Preston and Peachie Anderson Hatcher. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. He was a retiree of Goodyear in Connecticut and a U.S. Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann White Hatcher; daughter, Nadine Aleong; step-son, Rahman White, Sr., and his sisters and brothers. Cherishing his memories are one son, August Tyree Hatcher (Vivienne) of Chase City, VA; two daughters, Sandra Bacon (Jerry) of Victoria, VA and Karen Diane Hatcher of Bradenton, FL; step-daughter, Gina Johnson (Robert) of Chase City, VA, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Grover C. Hatcher will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer, officiating and Rev. Waverly Brown, Sr. delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
