Grady Hester, Jr.

Mr. Grady Hester, Jr, 82, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, April 17, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Hester was born in Shelby, NC September 9, 1933 to the late Rev. Grady Hester Sr. and Carrie Mae Hester. He was a graduate of historic Thyne Institute and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was a retired employee of Perdue Construction Company in Paterson, NJ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hester was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Adams and Margaret Snow and by a grandson, Andre High. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Doris Hester of Chase City, VA; three daughters, Wanda Hester, Wendolyn Hester and Winifred Dodson (Reginald); three sons, Bernard Hester, Bryan Hester and Byrone Hester; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one aunt, Beatrice and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April  23, 2016 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Reginald Dodson, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Silone Memorial Garden, Chase City, VA.  Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday, 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Services 2:00 P.M.
