Gracie Elsie Carrington

Mrs. Gracie Elsie Carrington 76, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Friday, April 10, 2009 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Carrington was born in Charlotte Court House, VA June 11, 1932 to the late John Lewis and Annie Mae Penick. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA and was a homemaker.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie B. Carrington and one son, Calvin R. Carrington.   Cherishing her memories are three daughters, Gloria Ogburn (Luellen) of Chase City, VA., Annie Carrington and Deborah Lyons (Willis) of Red Oak, VA., seven grandchildren, Brandon and Gary Carrington of Chase City, VA., Calvin Carrington Jr., Shawn Carrington, Jonathan Carrington, Chekesha Hunt, Fernando Hunt all of Oxford, NC.; three great grandchildren, Xaevion, Czarion and Ra’quel; three sisters, Pearl Marable, Mamie Cheatham, Thelma Bailey all of Chase City, VA;  two brothers, Jesse and John Penick (Odell) of Chase City, VA; one daughter-in-law, Deborah Green of Oxford, NC a devoted friend, Samuel Lewis and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Red Oak, VA with Prophet Harry L. Williams, officiating.   Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 216 4th Street, Clarksville, VA.
