Glinis Marie Oliver Barnette

Mrs. Glinis Marie Oliver Barnette, 88, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Chase City Nursing and Rehab Center, Chase City, VA. Mrs. Barnette was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on March 14, 1928 to the late James Henry and Genny Boyd Oliver.  She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA.  Mrs. Barnette was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Abraham Barnette; five brothers, Walter, Lathern, Robert, Claude and Jim and five sisters, Ruth, Lucille, Cora, Gilla Mae and Mildred. Cherishing her memories are one son, Clarence Barnette, Sr. (Joyce); four grandchildren, Clarence, Jr., Michael, Tamika and Latoya; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Betty Brown; two sisters-in-law, Mary Barnette and Noala Oliver and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Glinis Marie Oliver Barnette will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Raleigh M. Bagley, III, officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Services 11:00 A.M.
