Glenda Arlene Preston

Mrs. Glenda Arlene Preston, 56, of Nelson, Virginia and formerly of Arlington, VA entered into eternal rest Friday, June 3, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Preston was born in Arlington, VA June 14, 1954 to the late Willie L. Mc Call and Elizabeth Grisson Fells. She attended Arlington Public Schools and graduated from Wakefield High School in June 1972. She was also a graduate of Northern Virginia Community College in June 1975. Glenda attended Kemper Road Church of God, of Arlington, VA with her parents and sang with the Church of God Choral Ensemble Choir. In 1980 Glenda joined Mount Zion Baptist Church, Arlington, VA under the pastorate of the late Rev. Oswald G. Smith. Since relocating to Nelson, VA Glenda joined Wharton Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member of the Gospel Chorus and the Missionaries. Glenda worked full and part time during the summers at various government agencies. She retired from the Federal Government after working 37 years and 6 months in June 2010.  Cherishing her memories are her loving husband, George Preston of Nelson, VA; two sons, Joseph and David Cody of Arlington, VA;  two step-sons, Floyd Preston Jr. of Culpepper, VA and Saeed A. Shakoor of Fredericksburg, VA; five step- grandchildren, her mother, Elizabeth Fells of Arlington, VA; one brother, Theodore Fells of Clinton, MD; a special aunt, Della Overtree of LaGrange, GA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Glenda Arlene Preston will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Wharton Memorial Baptist Church, Nelson, VA with Rev. James A. Hudson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Wharton Memorial Gardens, Nelson, VA. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
