Gladys M. Bell

Mrs. Gladys Marie Jones Bell, 87, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. Mrs. Bell was born in Northview, VA Sept. 23, 1921 to the late Joe Emmett and Mary Agnes Jones, the fourth of six children. She attended Northview School and was a former employee of Lake Sleepwear. Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, Ashby G. Bell Sr., four siblings, Alton and Charles Jones, Elizabeth Turner and Alma Phillips and one niece, Doris Wilson. Cherishing her memories are four children, Ola Mae Warren Montgomery of East Orange, NJ, Ashby G. Bell Jr. and Brenda B. Burwell of Chase City, VA and William A. Bell of Richmond, VA; ten grandchildren, Tony Pamplin, Heather and Stephanie Bell, Mark Goode, Alma Fuller, Shelly and Kelly Gregory, Terry Harris, Lisa Montgomery and Regine Townsend; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Truly Jones (Loraine) of Bracey, VA; two great nieces, Thaise and Darren; one great nephew, Anton Chester Bell (Claudia); devoted friends, Geraldine Wilson and Eula Hayes and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Jones Bell will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Edward Harrington, officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Mrs. Bell may be viewed Wednesday only form 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
