Gladys A. Brooks

Ms. Gladys A. Brooks, 67, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Monday, September 9, 2013 at Chase City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Brooks was born in Red Oak, VA July 2, 1946 to the late Howard Sr. and Marie Carrington Brooks.  She attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA and was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA.  There she was an active member of the Missionary ministry until her health began to fail. She was employed at Shop Rite in New Jersey for many years. Upon returning to Virginia she worked at Burlington Industries in Clarksville, VA.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by an infant son and six brothers. Cherishing her memories are her daughter from NJ, Denise Bell (Keith); three grandsons, Anthony, Marquis and Brandon Bell of NJ; two sisters; Jeannie  Clayton (Leamon) of Richmond, VA, Annie  Hardy (Alfred) of Chase City, VA, three brothers, Roderick Brooks (Euradina) and Royal Brooks of Red Oak, VA and Michael Brooks of Jackson, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ms. Gladys A. Brooks will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 13, 2013 at Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA with Rev. Roger L. Allen, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.
