George Lee Gregory

Mr. George Lee Gregory, 84, of Buffalo Junction entered eternal rest Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. Mr. Gregory was born in Virginia October 3, 1929 to the late Nobie and Georgia T. Gregory.  He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County and was a member of Wharton Memorial Baptist Church. He served as a deacon, trustee and was a lifetime member of the usher board.   Mr. Gregory was a former employee of Russell Stover Candy Company and a retired farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, one granddaughter, one sister, and two brothers. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Wilma Goldie Gregory of Buffalo Junction, VA; four children, Calvin L. Gregory (Carolyn) of Clarksville, VA, Carolyn F. Gregory (Jesse) of Roxboro, NC, Gwendolyn D. Wilkins (Lezeric) of Nelson, VA and George H. Gregory (Kimberly) of South Boston, VA; one daughter in law, Mary H. Gregory;  seven grandchildren, Timothy and Brian Hilliard, Anthony, Omar, De’Andre and Deontae Gregory and Sharetta Degree (Willie); six great-grandchildren, Bri’Yahna, Tanea and Mytia Hilliard, JaQuan and Malik Gregory and Wy’Keen Degree; one brother, Harold Speede (Barbara) of Chase City, VA; four sisters, Jerline of South Hill, VA, Christine and Clara, both of Roxboro, NC and Sherine of Buffalo Junction, VA; one brother-in-law, Harvey Wilkerson (Fannie) of Baltimore, MD; three sisters-in-law, Anna W. Wilkerson of Nelson, VA, Catherine Wilkerson of Oxford, NC and Elain Speede; one special friend, Stanley Sydnor and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. George Lee Gregory will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 11, 2013 at Wharton Memorial Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. James A. Hudson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
