George Gayles

Mr. George Gayles, 89, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA.Mr. Gayles was born in Finchley, VA January 25, 1917 to the late Nathan and Lillie Terry Gayles. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County Schools and was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA. He was a retired farmer and gardener.Cherishing his memories is his wife of 68 years Mrs. Emma S. Coleman of Chase City, VA; three daughters, Mrs. Sarah H. Brooks (Clifton), Richmond, VA, Ms. Mary G. Jones Winckler of South Hill, VA and Mrs. Barbara G. Speede (Harold) of Chase City, VA seven grandchildren, Kenneth Jones (Rosa), Chase City, VA Debra S. Manns (Clinton), Glen Allen, Va, Aundrea Speede, Pamela Speede, and Beverly Speede all of Chase City, VA, George Brooks and Joseph Brooks of Richmond, VA; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Lillie G. Goode of Richmond, VA; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Daisy C. Baskerville of Keysville, VA; two brothers-in-law, James H. Coleman and Wesley E. Coleman of South Hill, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.Funeral services for Mr. George Gayles will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Robert Layton, officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Chase City, VA.Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
