Mrs. Geneva Pulliam Fields, 97, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, January 14, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Pulliam was born in Chase City, VA, January 22, 1912 to the late Richard and Mira Elam Pulliam. She attended historic Thyne Institute in Chase City, VA; at an early age she joined Union Baptist Church (now Greater Union Baptist Church) where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Fileds moved to Irvington, NJ and joined Lydia Baptist Church. Mrs. Fields was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Robinson; her second husband, William Fields; two sons, Elijah and Norman Robinson; six brothers, Albert, Floyd, John, Ernest, Henry, and Haywood Pulliam. Cherishing her memories are two daughters, Bertha R. Townes (Vincent) of Clarksville, VA and Margaret Townes of Irvington, NJ; 23 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Primrose Pulliam of Chase City, VA; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Pulliam and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Geneva Pulliam Fields will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Greater Union Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode, officiating and Rev. Carl Walker delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
