Mr. Franklin Delano Puryear, Jr., 54, of Buffalo Junction, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at VCU/MCV Hospitals in Richmond, VA. Mr. Puryear, affectionately known as “Petey”, was born in South Hill, VA on October 7, 1965 to Ella Jean Smith Puryear and the late Franklin Delano Puryear, Sr. At an early age, he joined Bluestone Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA, and was a graduate of Bluestone High School. Mr. Puryear was previously employed by Berry Hill Irrigation. He loved playing the guitar and spending quality time with his family. He cherished each moment he spent with his best friend, his loving son Brian. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Gloria Ann Hilliard Puryear of Buffalo Junction, VA; one son, Brian Puryear (Sonika) of Virginia Beach, VA; one granddaughter, Jayla, with one grandbaby on the way; his mother, Ella Jean Smith Puryear of Skipwith, VA; two sisters-in-law, Mary Gregory (John) and Mildred Gregory; one brother-in-law, Johnny Hilliard; eight aunts, Helen Haskins, Annie Tucker, Eva Gayles, Ruby Williams, Deborah Jones, Irene Tucker, Carolyn Burwell and Annie Hilliard; a devoted niece, Alisa Hilliard, numerous loving cousins, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Due to the mandates from Governor Ralph Northam, a private graveside service was conducted Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Bluestone Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Lawrence T. Wilkerson, officiating Public viewing was held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
