Deacon Floyd G. Roberts 73, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Friday, June 1, 2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Deacon Roberts was born in Mecklenburg County, VA June 5, 1933 to the late Robert Lee and Eva Ragland Roberts. He received his education in Mecklenburg County Public Schools and received an Associate’s Degree from Orange County Community College in Middletown, NY. Upon leaving the area he joined the AME Zion Church of Newburgh, NY where he served as Pastor’s Steward and choir member. After returning to Virginia he reunited with St. Mark Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Superintendent of Sunday School, treasure of the Missionary Society and choir. He was also the treasurer and vice chairman of the Trustee Board of the Bluestone Harmony Association of the Buffalo Ministers, Deacons and Laymen Union, treasurer of Chapter 741 of the AARP, life member of the NAACP, member of the TRIAD, president elect of the Lake Country Rotary until illness, and past president of Club Riviera. He was a retiree of the United States Air Force and before retirement a 19 year manager of Barclay’s Bank of New York. Cherishing his memories is his wife, Mrs. Jacie D. Roberts of Clarksville, VA; three brothers, Chambois Roberts (Shirley) of Boydton, VA, Lisborn D. Roberts (Queen) of Clarksville, VA, and Richard Roberts of Washington, D.C. three sisters-in-law, Naomi Roberts of Washington, DC, Alice Roberts of Buffalo Junction, VA and Celestine A. Roberts of Clarksville, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Deacon Floyd G. Roberts will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at St. Mark Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Kenneth Stokes, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Wharton Memorial Gardens, Nelson, VA. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 8 P.M. at C.H. Harris Funeral Home. Arrangements are by C.H.
