Mr. Fielder Carter Liggon, Sr., 85, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Friday, October 18, 2019 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. Mr. Liggon was born in Amelia County, VA on February 21, 1934 to the late Gus, Sr. and Amy Gugertha Carter Liggon. At an early age he joined Chester Grove Baptist Church in Amelia, and upon relocating to Chase City he joined Silone Baptist Church. Mr. Liggon retired from Burlington Industries after 30 plus years of service. He was affectionately called “Pop”, and loved his baseball cap and Jimmy Reed’s music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Liggon was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Oliver Liggon, one son, David Liggon, and his siblings, Ida Pulliam and Alfred Liggon. He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Teresa Somerville (Rudy) of Halifax, VA; three sons, Fielder Liggon, Jr. of South Hill, VA, Lawrence Liggon (Brenda) of Chase City, VA and Rex Liggon (Mari) of Clarksville, VA; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Terry of Boydton, VA and Bessie Boyd of Chase City, VA; four brothers, Gus Liggon, Jr. of Richmond, VA, Rev. Dr. Garland Liggon, Sr. of Chase City, VA, Mallom Liggon, Sr. (Marva) of Grayson, GA, and William Liggon (Kathy) of Victoria, VA; two daughters-in-law, Ila Leak and Brenda Davis; two sisters-in-law, Hattie Liggon and Joan Liggon, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Fielder Carter Liggon, Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Silone Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Garland B. Liggon, Sr. delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
