Mrs. Ezie Elam, 90, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Chase City Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Elam, affectionately known as “Shanny”, was born in Charlotte County, VA on May 15, 1932 to the late Daisy and Violet Harris. She received her education in the public schools of Charlotte County. At an early age, she was baptized and joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Drakes Branch where she sang with the choir. She also sang in a gospel group with her sisters, Marie and Leelva, called the “Willing Sisters”. Mrs. Elam retired from Jonbil, Inc. with many years of service. She married Henry Elam on February 14, 1953, and this union was blessed with six loving children. Mrs. Elam would help anyone, anyway she could, and enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Elam was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Elam; daughter, Joyce Eames; son, Larry Elam, son-in-law, Ronald Currin; three brothers, Samuel, David, and Sherman Harris; two sisters, Leelva Currin, and Marie Brown; one granddaughter, Debbie Eames, and one great-granddaughter, La’Ziyaha Bullock. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories four loving children, Vincent Elam (Barbara) , Dorenthia Currin, Ronda Elam, and Cheryl Bacon (Michael); grandchildren, Zakeyia Bacon, Makayla Bacon, Alicia Currin, Eric Currin, Tony Eames, Venita Jenkins, Felicia Wilson, Shyna Elam, Shameka Elam, Lakita Warren, LaSheila Elam, and Curtis Pullium; numerous great-grandchildren; devoted sister, Mary Green; devoted brothers, Lorenzo Harris and Curtis Harris (Nell); son-in-law, Robert Eames; sister-in-law, Elna Bacon; brother-in-law, Reverend John Brown; special cousin, Sophia Deloatch; devoted friend, Catherine Watson, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Ezie Elam will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris delivering the eulogy. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
