Evelyn "Sally Kit" Davis

Mrs. Evelyn Redd Davis "Sally Kit" 79 of Philadelphia, PA and former of Charlotte County, VA entered eternal rest Friday, August 29, 2008 at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, Darby, PA. Mrs. Davis was born  December 24, 1928 in Charlotte County, VA, one of  eleven children born to the  late John Redd and Nannie Dailey Redd.    She attended Charlotte County Public School and at  an early age  joined Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA and later relocated to Philadelphia, PA and joined Mount Carmel Baptist Church and remained a member until her health began to decline.  Evelyn enjoyed cooking, traveling, fishing, dining and giving generously to others.  She worked in the family business of Davis Rugs Services for 25 years.  Cherishing her memories are her husband of 45 years, Waverly, one son Michael (Jane) and four grandchildren:  Shanell, Michelle, Bianca and Rodrigo all of Philadelphia, PA;  three sisters-in-law; Grace Davis, Irma (Lynn) Dailey and Christine Craighhead;  two brothers-in-law; Russell Foster and Herman Riley; loving nieces and nephews and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.  Funeral services for Mrs. Evvelyn Redd Davis will be conducted 12:00 Noon Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA with Rev. Dr. James E. Scott, officiating and Rev. Marvin Harris delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
