Evelyn Christine Mayo Bragg

Ms. Evelyn Christine Mayo Bragg, 69, of Newark, NJ and formerly of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, March 10, 2017 at JFK Medical Center, Edison, NJ. Ms. Bragg was born in Chase City, VA January 23, 1948 to the late Matthew and Elva Watts Mayo. She attended West End High School and was a graduate of Essex County Community College, Newark, NJ. In addition to her parents, Ms. Bragg was preceded in death by a son, Nevin Bragg and a brother, Matthew Nelson Mayo. She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Tamela Lanette Bragg of Chase City, VA, Marilynn Denise Bragg of Stratford, NJ and Jacqueline La Sheryl Bragg of Fords, NJ; one son, Malachi Isaiah Johnson of Bethlehem, PA; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Mayo of Chase City, VA, Marilynn Walker of South Hill, VA and Carolyn Chapman of Spring Lake, NC; three brothers, Robert Watts (Josephine) of Skipwith, VA, James Mayo and Larry Dean Mayo both of Chase City, VA; three aunts, Mary Smith of Skipwith, VA, Virginia Coaxum of Chase City, VA and Lillian Brannan of Yonkers, NY; one sister-in-law, Alma Mayo and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Ms. Evelyn Christine Mayo Bragg will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev Andy Hargrove, officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Chase City. Public viewing will be held on Friday, from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
