Evelyn Bruce Hamlett

Mrs. Evelyn Bruce Hamlett, 72, of Lunenburg, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, June 25, 2023 at VCU/Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.

Mrs. Hamlett was born in Mecklenburg County, VA April 6, 1951 to the late Colonel and Frances Inez Chandler Marrow. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA. At an early age she became a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Victoria, VA; where she sang in the choir. She was previously employed as a caregiver. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, traveling and attending gospel events.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Bruce Sr., her second husband, Eugene Hamlett; sister, Alice Hendricks and brothers, Clarence and Ray Marrow and Arthur Chandler.

She leave to cherish her precious memories her daughter, Mary Bruce of Lunenburg, VA; sons, Joseph Bruce (Debra) of Chase City, VA and James Bruce (Laine) of Boise, ID; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Crawley of Chase City, VA and Bessie Tisdale of Newport News, VA; four brothers, Charlie Marrow and Colonel Marrow (Teresa) of Victoria, VA, William Marrow (Della) of Keysville, VA, Jerry Marrow of Richmond, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church, Victoria, VA with Rev. William Moore III delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be on Saturday from 2:00 PM until 6:00 P.M.
