Eugene Sizemore Watkins

Mrs. Eugene Sizemore Watkins, 97, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Mrs. Watkins was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on March 9, 1922 to the late John B. and Olar Pines Sizemore. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA, and was a member of Wharton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Nelson. While there she served in various capacities, and was a member of the Senior Choir, Missionary Society and the Mother’s Board. Mrs. Watkins was previously employed by Burlington Industries, and the Mecklenburg County Public Schools as a custodian. She enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, reading her bible, and visiting with her friends at Hazelwood House. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Linwood Watkins, and three siblings, Louis Carter Sizemore, Thomas Douglas Sizemore, and Galvin Edward Sizemore. Cherishing her memories are one daughter, Evella W. Hutcheson of Clarksville, VA; two sons, Christopher A. Watkins of Glen Burnie, MD and Ervin Watkins (Etta) of Nelson, VA; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren, 4 step great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Minnie Arnold of New York; one uncle, George Sizemore, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Eugene Sizemore Watkins will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Wharton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Nelson, VA with Rev. Dr. James A. Hudson, Jr. delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Wharton Memorial Gardens. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M.
