Esther Lee Brooks

Mrs. Esther Lee Brooks, 57, of Red Oak, Virginia entered eternal rest Saturday, June 2, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Brooks was born October 27, 1954 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia to the late Dwight Staten and Florence Staten. At an early age she joined First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA. She was employed by Russell Stover Candies for over 20 years. In addition to her father, Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Austin Brooks and one brother, Earl Staten. She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Takeshia L. Brooks, one step-son, Kelvin O. Staten (LaWanda); four grandchildren, Taquinst, Takquela, TyQuann and Tyrik Beattie; three step grandchildren; mother, Florence Staten; maternal grandmother, Lillie Mayo; two brothers, William McFail (Joyce); one sister, Eldean Dailey (Bylinda); four aunts, Ella (Earl) Lorraine Brown, Hazel Mosley and Estelle Boyd; one uncle, Thomas Watson; one brother-in-law, Jack Brooks; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Brooks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and several devoted friends, James Craighead, Larry Lambert, Emma Goode, Regina Smith Clarine Mosley and Sally P. Boyd. Funeral services for Mrs. Esther Lee Brooks will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA with Rev. Opie Terrell, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
