Mrs. Estelle Oliver Coleman Tucker, 87, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Tucker was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on September 14, 1929 to the late Claude Oliver and Sarah Oliver Bragg. She was educated in the Mecklenburg County Training School. At an early age, she joined New Grove Baptist Church, Lunenburg County, VA and later joined North View Baptist Church, South Hill, VA where she was very active in Missionary, Usher, Nursing and Culinary Ministries. She was bestowed as honorary mother of the church in 2014 and awarded the Certificate of Silver Life Membership of the NAACP. Mrs. Tucker was previously employed by Jonbil for many years and retired from Mecklenburg Electric Co-op. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husbands, Sterling Coleman and Alex Tucker and two sons, Willie and Sterling. Cherishing her memories are one son, Eddie (Gloria) of Walkersville, MD; four daughters, Marilyn Newby of Disputanta, VA, Deborah (Leonard) of Dumfries, VA, Marguerite (Willie) of Skipwith, VA and Brenda (James) of Chase City, VA; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florine Walker and Annie Oliver both of Richmond, VA ; three brothers, Hardy (Evelyn), Calvin (Donna) and Norbourne (Joanne) Bragg ; daughter-in-law, Bessie Coleman; brother-in-law, Woodrow Tucker; devoted niece, Mona Rainey; Shirley Pettus, whom she treated as a daughter; special friend, Michelle Mays and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Estelle Oliver Coleman Tucker will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 5, 2016 at North View Baptist Church, South Hill, VA with Rev. Robert Faulcon, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
