Estella Mckinney Carter

Mrs. Estella McKinney Carter, 82, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Carter was born in Brooklyn, NY August 19, 1931 to the late Alaska A. and Susan Higgs McKinney. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School of Brooklyn, NY, Queens College, Flushing, NY, and Parrish Nursing Program of Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA. Mrs. Carter retired as Supervisor of Nurses at Neponsit Health Care Facility, Rockaway Park, NY, after retiring she was employed as a Health Instructor at Lunenburg Correctional Center. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. Cherishing her memories are her husband, Robert L. Carter of Chase City, VA; one step-daughter, Terrie Carter; five step-sons, Edwin A. Carter, Larry Carter, Robert L. Watts, Robert M. Carter and Frankie Carter and a host of grand and great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice McKinney of Clarksville, VA; nieces, Kimberly and Peggy McKinney; nephews, Paul, Alphonzo, Michael and Anthony McKinney and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Estella McKinney Carter will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Raleigh Bagley III, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. at the church. Public viewing for family and friends Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Services 11:00 A.M.
