Erskine H. Byrd

Mr. Erskine Byrd, 59 of  Hyattsville, MD entered eternal rest Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park, MD.  Mr. Byrd was born in Washington, DC, Nov. 2, 1949 to Roy C. and Mary Speaks Byrd. He was a self-employed contractor and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Byrd is survived by  his wife, Shirley Stokes Byrd; one son, Erskine Troublefield; one grandson, Avery Chivers; two sisters, Diane Ivey (Carl) and Jeanette Webster (Jerry); three brothers, Roy, Jr. (Cheryl), Calvin (Jacqueline) and Douglas  Byrd (Cynthia); one brother-in-law, Goodrich Stokes, Jr. (Joyce) ; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Charlton (Keith) and Atlas Robinson and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside service for Mr. Erskine Byrd will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2008 at New Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery, Keysville, VA with Rev. Ricky Allen, officiating. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St. Chase City, VA.
