Elvira Jeffress Boyd

Mrs. Elvira Jeffress Boyd, 85, of Red Oak, VA exchanged time for eternity on Saturday December 11, 2021 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Boyd was born in Charlotte County, VA September 10, 1936 to the late William and Olia Toombs Jeffress. She attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA and was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching her game shows. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde A. Boyd Sr., her son, Freddie L. Boyd, a granddaughter, Jacqueline Craighead, and she was the last survivor of her siblings. She leaves to cherish her memories eight children, Catherine E. Irvin (Paul), Clyde A. Boyd Jr. (Salley), Thelma B. Craighead, David J. Boyd and Lattie L. Boyd all of Red Oak, VA, Olia Daniel of Randolph, VA, Peggy B. Boyd of Drakes Branch, VA and Frank A. Boyd (Consuelo) of Accokeek, MD; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Mosley and Estelle Boyd, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, December 18, 2021 at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. John Craighead officiating. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
