Elona Wallace Al-Haj

Ms. Elona Wallace Al-Haj, 76, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Chase City Health and Rehab Center. Ms. Al-Haj was born in Richmond, VA on July 19, 1945 to the late Erma Fitzgerald Patterson. She was a graduate of Maggie L. Walker High School in Richmond, VA, and furthered her education at Virginia Union University earning her Bachelor’s Degree. Ms. Al-Haj was a member of First African Baptist Church, Richmond, VA, and was a former administrative assistant for the Virginia Department of Education. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and listening to music. She was also an avid sports fan, enjoying football, tennis and golf. Ms. Al-Haj was previously married to Larry William Hayes, Sr., and this union was blessed with three children. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Larry William Hayes, Jr. (Nishonda) and Rashaan Lavar Hayes both of Chase City, VA; a daughter, Natasha Hayes Sherman (Timothy) of Chase City, VA, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
