Miss Ella Jean Coleman, 64, of Chesterfield, VA entered eternal rest Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at her residence. Miss Coleman was born in Chase City, VA June 26, 1945 to the late James and Marine Odoms Coleman. She attended historic Thyne Institute, Chase City, VA, was a graduate of Saint Paul’s College, Lawrenceville, VA and Morgan State College, Baltimore, MD. She also was former Dean of Women at Saint Paul’s. Miss Coleman was a retired Mecklenburg County School teacher, having last taught at Parkview Senior High School. She was a member of Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church, Chase City, VA. Miss Coleman was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Coleman. Cherishing her memories are five sisters, Linda Coleman Starkes and Fay P. Coleman of Richmond, VA, Lela Ann Coleman, and Shirley Coleman Richardson (Willie) all of Baltimore, MD, Teressa Coleman Davis (Marvin) of Richmond, VA; two brothers, James Coleman of Washington, D.C. and Ronnie Coleman of Chase City, VA. and a vast number of loving relatives and caring friends. A funeral service for Miss Ella J. Coleman will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 25, 2009 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Russell S. Williams, officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St. Chase City, VA.
