Elizabeth Evans Mangum

Mrs. Elizabeth E. Mangum, 77, of Boydton, Virginia entered eternal rest Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA.   Mrs. Mangum was born in Boydton, VA October 28, 1933, the youngest of 11 children born to the late Jim Evans and Mary Lena Thompson. She was a graduate of West End High School and was formerly employed at Lake Garment Manufacturing Company for many years. Mrs. Magnum was a member of Jerusalem Temple United Holy Church, Boydton, VA; where she served on the Mothers Board, President of the Usher’s Board, Trustee Board, Vice President of Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Custodial Service, Senior Choir and the Kitchen Committee. She was a member of the Tidewater Central District Union. In addition to her parents Mrs. Mangum was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Mangum, Sr. and eight siblings. Cherishing her memories are her children, Robert W. Mangum Jr. (Cheryl) of Richmond, VA, Ronnie L. Mangum, Curtis G. Magnum (Linda), Tony S. Mangum and Melissa  Marks all of Boydton, VA;  eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Evans of Boydton, VA  and Alice Benjamin of Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Mangum Evans and Eunice Evans of Boydton, VA; three brothers-in-law, Clarence Mangum of Seattle, WA, Raymond Mangum and Claude Mangum of Vernon Hill, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Evans Mangum will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 1, 2010 at Jerusalem Temple United Holy Church, Boydton, VA with Elder Benjamin Carmon, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 until 5 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
