Eleanor Randolph Terry

Mrs. Eleanor Randolph Terry, 78, of Ponte Verde, FL entered eternal rest on January 15, 2024, less than three months after her husband of 55 years, Chester M. Terry at Residence of Watertown in Watertown, MA.

Mrs. Terry was born in Clarksville, VA on May 8, 1945, to the late Augustus L. Brummell and Elnora Royster Brummell. She attended West End High School in Skipwith, VA, and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church #2 in Clarksville. After graduation, she remained in Clarksville for a year to care for her ailing mother. She then joined her sister, Hilda, in Baltimore, MD where she worked as a secretary before entering Morgan State University to complete her B.S. degree. She graduated from Morgan State University in 1971.

She was a dedicated educator, teaching in high schools in Baltimore County (MD), Columbus (OH), and Elgin (IL) Public School Districts before she retired. Eleanor was also very active in church and volunteered for several organizations focused on supporting teens and the elderly. She loved fiercely and unconditionally and lifted those around her. Eleanor was known for her amazing storytelling, unwavering devotion, playful humor, and fearless spirit.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester M. Terry, and her siblings, Thomas, Hilda, James, and Loring Brummell.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, two daughters, a son (in-law), four grandsons, four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving

relatives, caring friends, and the remarkable students she guided and mentored.

A celebration of life service for Mrs. Eleanor Randolph Terry will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church #2 , Clarksville, VA. Masks will be provided for services for those who need one. We ask that you adhere to all Covid-19 guidelines.
