Eleanor Marjorie Knott

Miss Eleanor Marjorie Knott, 84, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Chase City Health and Rehab Center, Chase City, VA. Miss Knott was born in Lunenburg County, VA on June 9, 1932 to the late Lewis Henry and Gracie L. Walton Knott. She received her education in the Lunenburg County Public Schools and at an early age she joined the Mt. Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA. Upon relocating to Maryland, she furthered her education and joined Faith Baptist Church in Baltimore. After retirement, she returned to Virginia, reuniting with the Mt. Mitchell Baptist Church where she remained a devoted member. She was formerly employed as a secretary for Baltimore City Board of Education, and later held several positions with the U.S. Federal Government at the Department of Defense, Fort George G. Meade, MD until retirement. In addition to her parents, Miss Knott was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary K. Roselle, Christine K. Jones, Ardell K. James and Grace K. Hardy; three brothers, James W. Knott, Earnest L. Knott, and Luther T. Knott. One sibling died at birth. Cherishing her memories are one sister, Doris Coleman of Mechanicsville, VA; a host of nieces and nephews and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services form Miss Eleanor Marjorie Knott will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Mt. Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. Fran Jackson, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
