Elder Earnest Marrow Sr., 81, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at his residence. Elder Marrow was born in Mecklenburg County, VA June 12, 1927 to the late Colonel Sr. and Bessie Gregory Marrow. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County Schools. Elder Marrow was involved in numerous communities activities such as the Voter Registration movement, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Auxiliary Police Dept of Chase City, assistant scout master, law enforcement seminar and professional marksman. His Christian affiliations have included Cedar Grove Baptist Church #1 Clarksville, VA, St. Matthew Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA and St. Mark U.H.C, Boydton, VA where he served as pastor from 1990-2001 and remained a member. Elder Marrow received a Ministerial Certificate in Christian Education at the Virginia Seminary. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Margarett W. Marrow of Clarksville, VA, three sons, Earnest Jr, of Boydton, VA, Larry (Sunduk) of Norfolk, VA and James of Portsmouth, VA; one step son, Larry Jones of Victoria, VA; three sisters, Ruth Crawford and Madgline Smith (Dewey) all of Newark, NJ and Martha Smith of East Orange, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Phelps (William) of Portsmouth, NH, Elizabeth W. Davis of Cleveland, OH; six brothers-in-law, Gordon Ray Witchers of Atlanta, GA, Samuel Witchers and Isaiah Witchers both of Detroit, MI, John Witchers of Daly City, CA, Joseph St. Clair Witchers of San Francisco, CA and George Witchers of Clarksville, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring and caring friends. Funeral services for Elder Earnest Marrow will be conducted 11:00 A. M. Monday, October 27, 2008 at Jerusalem Temple U.H.C., Boydton, VA with Elder Thomas Brook officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at C.H. Harris Funeral Home, Clarksville, VA. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 216 Fourth Street, Clarksville, VA.
