Effie M. Bowers

Ms. Effie Bowers 82, of Boydton, Virginia entered eternal rest Sunday, March 30, 2008 at her residence. Miss Bowers was born in Boydton, VA Dec. 8, 1925 to the late Miles and Courtney Baskerville Morton. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA was a member of Lands Chapel RZUA Church, Boydton, VA and was a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Cassandra Bowers-Thornton and Tracie Lynette Bowers; two sisters, Pearl Smith and Ann Ross.  Cherishing her memories are one son, Terick Bowers of Boydton, VA; four daughters, Gwendolyn Irvin of Boydton, VA, Janice Bowers of Clarksville, VA, Betsy Bowers of Greensboro, NC and Joyce Bowers of Rosedale, NY; four grandchildren, Angels Bowers of Greensboro, NC, Serena Thornton of Valley Stream, NY, Shawnda Bowers of Richmond, VA and Robin Rosado of Clarksville, VA; 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson; three sisters, Mary Jane Simmons of Boydton, VA, Mary Alexander of Pennsylvania and Elizabeth Hutcheson of New Jersey and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.  Funeral services for Ms. Effie M. Bowers will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Lands Chapel RZUA Church, Boydton, VA with Rev. Lovely Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 216 4th street, Clarksville, VA.
