Mr. Edward Mack, Sr., 77, of Irvington, NJ entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at University Hospital, Newark, NJ. Mr. Mack was born in Chase City, VA on August 20, 1944 to the late Howard, Sr. and Sallie Mary Arrington Mack. He was educated in the Mecklenburg County, VA school system, and later relocated to Newark, NJ and was drafted into the US Army in 1965. Mr. Mack was a Vietnam Veteran, and was awarded a Medal of Honor. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Mr. Mack was formerly employed by Meeker Foundry, BASF Wyndotte, and retired from Elan Chemical in 2008. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mack was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances, Ella and Lillian, and a brother, Howard. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Rev. Edna Mack; daughter, Jennifer; two sons, Sean and Edward, Jr.; grandchildren, Richard (Deanna), Shanike, Edward D., Bobby and Renee; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alma (Nelson) of Chase City, VA, Mattie (Thomas) of Powhatan, VA, and Joyce (Alvin) of Clarksville, VA, nine sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services with limited seating of 50 will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with his wife, Rev. Edna Mack, delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
